Outsized sushi at Yama

Sushi at Yama
Last night I went with my cousin to Yama in Union Square.

Having not been for many years - it's always so crowded!- last night surprisingly there was no wait at all at 8pm.

We ordered several rolls - that's pretty much all I order at Yama - and they were delicious.  Larger than life like I remembered, these aren't your average sushi rolls.

Fresh ingredients and interesting combinations like jalapeno specials for those who like everything with an extra kick.  The fish is very fresh - no fishiness here, and especially the roe is nice and crunchy - not the mush often presented at other venues around town.

Yama is a pretty reasonable sushi option - the three of us were served for around $50 bucks, sans alcohol of course.  While the sushi and sashimi aren't the most delicate you'll find, at this price point the portions will definitely satisfy your sushi fix.

Yama has several locations around the city.
